The criteria for a free image-burning program are pretty straightforward. First, it has to support as many disc image formats as possible. Second, it has to work with as many burners as possible. Third, it has to actually work. ImgBurn's got you covered.
As if its first job of burning images isn't enough, ImgBurn puts in a lot of overtime covering a variety of other tasks. In fact, many people use ImgBurn as their sole burning software for this reason. You can create images, burn data discs, DVD videos, and even audio CDs. ImgBurn is generally for more advanced users, but with the relatively new "Ez-Mode Picker", managing these tasks is easier than ever. Still, if you need assistance, make sure to visit the ImgBurn Guides forum (a shortcut is conveniently placed in ImgBurn's 'Help' menu too).
Supported formats include:
APE, BIN, CDI, CDR, CUE, DI, FLAC, GCM, GI, IBQ, IMG, ISO, LST, MDS, NRG, PDI, etc...
It's just those pesky proprietary images (UIF, CCD/SUB, etc.) that aren't supported. But rest easy knowing you can burn to CD, DVD, HD DVD, BluRay, and LaserDisc formats, and 99.9% of burners are supported.
ImgBurn may take a little getting used to, but take it for a ride - it'll become one of your go-to tools. And at less than 2MB, what do you have to lose? Certainly not hard drive space. If the people at Nero aren't red in the face, they'd better be green with envy.
